Before using Abrocitinib, be sure to tell your doctor about all other medications you are taking. Some drugs may increase the side effects of Abrocitinib, such as fluconazole (for fungal infections), fluoxetine or fluvoxamine (for depression), and ticlopidine (for stroke). Other drugs may lower the concentration of Abrocitinib in your blood, such as antacids, famotidine, or omeprazole (for acid reflux). Some drugs may have their effects increased or decreased by Abrocitinib, such as digoxin (for heart failure), dabigatran or clopidogrel (for stroke), and phenytoin (for epilepsy). In particular, using other biologics or immunomodulators (e.g., cyclosporine, baricitinib, upadacitinib) may increase the risk of side effects. Your doctor will decide whether dose adjustment or discontinuation is necessary based on your specific situation.
Do not use Abrocitinib if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, as it may harm fetal development. If you become pregnant or suspect you might be pregnant during treatment, tell your doctor immediately. Women of childbearing potential must use effective contraception during treatment with Abrocitinib and for at least one month after the last dose. Consult your doctor for specific methods. Do not use Abrocitinib while breastfeeding, as it is unknown whether the drug passes into breast milk and affects the infant. Additionally, Abrocitinib may cause temporary reduced fertility in women of childbearing potential, but this effect is reversible after stopping the medication.
Abrocitinib does not affect the ability to drive a car, motorcycle, or operate machinery, so you can engage in activities requiring concentration after taking the medication as directed. Elderly patients (aged 65 years and older) are at higher risk of infections, heart disease, and certain types of cancer. Your doctor will consider this when deciding if Abrocitinib is suitable for you. This medicine contains lactose monohydrate. If you have an intolerance to certain sugars, consult your doctor before use. Furthermore, each tablet of Abrocitinib contains less than 1 mmol (23 mg) of sodium, essentially making it a "sodium-free" medicine, which is safe for patients who need to control their sodium intake.
