If you forget to take your medicine: For the once-daily regimen, if it is less than 12 hours until your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and take your next dose as planned; if it is more than 12 hours, take the missed dose immediately, then take your next dose as planned. For the twice-daily regimen, if it is less than 6 hours until your next dose, skip the missed dose; if it is more than 6 hours, take the missed dose immediately, then take your next dose as planned. If you have taken too many tablets, or if someone else has accidentally taken your medicine, contact your doctor immediately for advice, and show them the medicine pack – medical treatment may be required. Do not stop treatment unless your doctor tells you to.
Some side effects may be serious. If you experience any of the following, stop taking the medicine and tell your doctor immediately. Very common (may affect more than 1 in 10 people) serious side effects include: sudden bleeding or bruising (indicating thrombocytopenia), fever, sore throat, frequent infections (indicating neutropenia). Uncommon (may affect up to 1 in 100 people) serious side effects include: fever above 38°C accompanied by low white blood cell count (febrile neutropenia), a decrease in all types of blood cells (pancytopenia), irregular heartbeat or changes in the electrical activity of the heart (QT prolongation). If you experience severe upper abdominal pain (which may indicate pancreatitis), seek medical attention immediately.
In addition to the serious side effects mentioned above, the following side effects may occur. Very common (may affect more than 1 in 10 people): nasopharyngeal infection (upper respiratory tract infection), fatigue, pallor (anaemia), headache, dizziness, symptoms related to high blood pressure, cough, vomiting, diarrhoea, nausea, abdominal pain, constipation, rash, itching, musculoskeletal pain, joint pain, weakness. Common (may affect up to 1 in 10 people): lower respiratory tract infection (fever, cough, difficulty breathing), influenza, hypothyroidism (fatigue, weight gain, changes in skin and hair), loss of appetite, blurred vision, dry eyes, palpitations, pleural effusion (chest pain, cough, shortness of breath), difficulty breathing, non-cardiac chest pain, pancreatitis, urticaria, generalised oedema, fever. Uncommon (may affect up to 1 in 100 people) side effects also include allergic reactions.
