Ixazomib Citrate is approved for use in combination with lenalidomide and dexamethasone for the treatment of patients with multiple myeloma who have received at least one prior line of therapy.

What are the drug interactions of Ixazomib?

Although some drugs should not be used together at all, in certain cases, two different drugs may be administered concomitantly even if interactions are possible. In such instances, the physician may adjust the dosage or take other necessary precautions. During treatment with this medication, if you are using any of the following drugs, be sure to inform your healthcare provider. The interactions listed below are selected based on their potential significance and do not cover all possible scenarios.

Concomitant use of this product with any of the following drugs is not recommended: Live Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) vaccine, Live Tetravalent Dengue Vaccine, Live Measles Virus Vaccine, Live Mumps Virus Vaccine, Live Rubella Virus Vaccine, Smallpox-Monkeypox Vaccine, Typhoid Vaccine, Live Varicella Zoster Virus Vaccine, Yellow Fever Vaccine.

Your physician may decide not to administer this product, or adjust the dosage of other medications you are taking.

How to Use Ixazomib?

1. Take this medication orally. Administer it on the same fixed day each week as directed on the prescription label. Do not cut, crush, or chew the capsules; swallow them whole. Take the medication on an empty stomach, at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal. Continue treatment unless instructed to stop by your healthcare team.

2. For pediatric use, consult your healthcare team, as special precautions may be required.

3. Overdose: If an overdose is suspected, contact a poison control center or emergency room immediately.

Note: This medication is for your personal use only. Do not share it with others.

What If You Miss a Dose of Ixazomib?

If you miss a dose, take the missed dose as soon as you remember. However, if less than 72 hours remain until your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and resume your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose at the same time to make up for the missed one, as this may increase the risk of adverse reactions.

In addition, if vomiting occurs after taking the medication, manage it based on the timing of vomiting:

If vomiting happens shortly after administration (e.g., within 1–2 hours) and you suspect the drug has not been fully absorbed, the dose may be considered invalid. Skip the current dose and take the next scheduled dose as planned.

If vomiting occurs later or you are uncertain, consult your physician or pharmacist for advice.

In all cases, if you have any questions about the administration method, or are unsure how to manage a missed dose or post-dose vomiting, contact your healthcare provider or pharmacist promptly for confirmation.
