Tivozanib may cause fatigue, weakness, dizziness, blurred vision, and other side effects that can affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. If you experience any of these symptoms, you should avoid driving or engaging in activities that require high concentration. While taking this medication, be sure to take it regularly as prescribed by your doctor, and do not change the dose or stop taking it without permission. If you forget to take a dose, do not make up for it; just take the next dose at the normal time. If you vomit after taking a dose, do not take another capsule. In addition to high blood pressure (very common), other very common side effects of Tivozanib include: speech problems, diarrhea, loss of appetite and weight loss, headache, difficulty breathing or shortness of breath on exertion, cough, fatigue and unusual weakness, various pains (mouth, bones, limbs, groin, tumor site), mouth inflammation and discomfort, nausea, abdominal pain, hand-foot syndrome (redness, swelling, numbness, peeling of skin on palms and soles), back pain, lack of energy. Common side effects (affecting up to 1 in 10 people) include: hypothyroidism, insomnia, nerve damage causing numbness or tingling, blurred vision, fast heartbeat, chest tightness, blood clots, nosebleeds, taste changes, dizziness, bleeding, rash, fever, joint pain, increased protein in urine, etc.
Uncommon side effects (affecting up to 1 in 100 people) include: pustular rash, fungal infection, easy bruising of the skin, hyperthyroidism, polycythemia, memory loss, watery eyes, ear fullness, small intestinal ulcers, skin blisters, urticaria, heart failure, etc. A rare side effect (affecting up to 1 in 1,000 people) is reversible posterior leukoencephalopathy syndrome (PRES), with symptoms such as headache, seizure, confusion, blindness, etc. Side effects of unknown frequency include aneurysm and arterial dissection.
