What precautions should be taken when using Capivasertib?

It is crucial that your doctor monitors your condition regularly to detect any potential problems caused by this medicine. Blood tests may be required to monitor for adverse effects.

Use of this medicine during pregnancy may harm your unborn baby. If there is a possibility of you being pregnant, your doctor may perform a pregnancy test before you start treatment to confirm that you are not pregnant. Use effective contraception to avoid pregnancy during treatment with this medicine and for at least 1 month after the last dose. Male patients with female partners should use effective contraception during treatment with this medicine and for at least 4 months after the last dose. If you think you may have become pregnant while taking this medicine, inform your doctor immediately.

How to take Capivasertib?

You should take Capivasertib tablets on a cycle of 4 days on treatment followed by 3 days off treatment, twice daily. A 4-week (28-day) course of medication is defined as one treatment cycle.

Repeat this cycle thereafter.

Swallow the tablets whole with water. Do not chew, crush or split the tablets before swallowing. Do not take any tablets that are broken, cracked or damaged.

The recommended dose for most adults is 800 mg daily, which is 2 tablets of 200 mg each, twice daily, approximately 12 hours apart. It is advisable to take the medicine at fixed times every day.

You need to take Capivasertib in combination with fulvestrant.

Fulvestrant is administered by injection, with 2 injections per dose, one in each buttock. For the first three doses, fulvestrant is injected every 14 days; thereafter, during your continuous treatment with Capivasertib, the injection frequency is changed to once every 28 days.

What if you miss a dose of Capivasertib?

If you miss a dose of Capivasertib, you may take the missed dose immediately within 4 hours of your usual dosing time.

If more than 4 hours have passed since your usual dosing time, skip the missed dose and take the next scheduled dose at your regular time. Please note that there should be an interval of at least 8 hours between two consecutive doses.

If you vomit after taking a dose, do not take an extra dose; simply take the next scheduled dose at the original time.
