Adverse reactions of Ixazomib

Ixazomib may cause serious adverse reactions, which include the following:

Thrombocytopenia

This is a relatively common adverse reaction during ixazomib treatment, and it can be severe in some cases. If the platelet count drops to an excessively low level, platelet transfusion therapy may be required. You should promptly inform your healthcare provider if you experience any symptoms associated with thrombocytopenia, such as bleeding or easy bruising.

Gastrointestinal Disorders

Diarrhea, constipation, nausea, and vomiting are common reactions during ixazomib treatment, and these symptoms may be severe in some cases. If the aforementioned symptoms persist without relief during ixazomib treatment, contact your healthcare provider immediately. They may prescribe symptomatic medications to alleviate your discomfort.

Neuropathy

This adverse reaction is relatively common during ixazomib treatment and may progress to severe symptoms. You should promptly inform your healthcare provider if you develop new symptoms such as numbness, tingling, pain, or burning sensations in your hands and feet, or weakness in your arms and legs, or if any pre-existing related symptoms worsen.

Edema

Edema is a common adverse reaction during ixazomib treatment and can be severe in some cases. You should inform your healthcare provider if you develop edema in your face, arms, hands, legs, ankles, or feet, or if you experience weight gain caused by edema.

Skin Reactions

Skin rash is a common manifestation during ixazomib treatment. In addition, this drug may cause severe, even life-threatening, skin reactions. You must contact your healthcare provider immediately if you develop a new rash, if an existing rash worsens, or if you experience severe skin blistering, peeling, or oral ulcers.

Thrombotic Microangiopathy (TMA)

TMA is a disorder involving thrombosis and small blood vessel damage, which may impair the kidneys, brain, and other organs, and can be fatal in severe cases. During ixazomib treatment, you must seek medical attention immediately if you experience any symptoms such as fever, bruising, nosebleeds, fatigue, or decreased urine output.

Hepatic Dysfunction

You should promptly inform your healthcare provider if you experience any symptoms associated with hepatic dysfunction, such as yellowing of the skin or sclera, or pain in the upper right abdomen.

Other common adverse reactions of ixazomib include neutropenia (decreased white blood cell count) and bronchitis.

During ixazomib treatment, inform your healthcare provider if you develop any of the following new symptoms or if pre-existing symptoms worsen:

1. Rash and pain caused by reactivation of the varicella-zoster virus (herpes zoster)

2. Blurred vision or other visual changes, dry eyes, or conjunctivitis
