During treatment with capmatinib, your doctor will need to regularly monitor your disease progression to ensure the medication works effectively as intended. Blood tests may be required to check for adverse effects.

Precautions for Using Capmatinib

1. Using this medication during pregnancy may harm the unborn baby. If you are a woman of childbearing potential, your doctor may perform a pregnancy test before starting treatment to confirm that you are not pregnant. Use effective contraception during treatment and for at least 1 week after your final dose. Men who have female partners of childbearing potential should also use effective contraception during treatment and for at least 1 week after the final dose. If you suspect that you are pregnant, inform your doctor immediately.

2. This medication may cause lung inflammation (pneumonitis) or interstitial lung disease. These are potentially life-threatening conditions that require immediate medical attention. Their symptoms may resemble those of lung cancer. Contact your doctor right away if you develop a new or worsening cough, fever, or difficulty breathing.

3. Contact your doctor immediately if you experience upper abdominal pain or tenderness, pale stools, dark urine, loss of appetite, nausea, unusual tiredness or weakness, or yellowing of the eyes or skin. These could be symptoms of serious liver problems.

4. This medication may cause pancreatic issues. Contact your doctor immediately if you have bloating, chills, constipation, dark urine, rapid heartbeat, fever, indigestion, loss of appetite, nausea, pain in the stomach, side of the body, abdomen or back, vomiting, or yellowing of the eyes or skin.

5. This medication may cause severe, potentially life-threatening allergic reactions that require immediate medical attention. Contact your doctor right away if you have difficulty breathing or swallowing, rapid heartbeat, itching, or a rash, redness or swelling of the face, throat or tongue.

6. This medication may increase your skin’s sensitivity to sunlight. When outdoors, use sunscreen and wear protective clothing. Avoid sunlamps and tanning beds.

7. Do not take other medications unless discussed with your doctor first. This includes prescription or over-the-counter drugs, as well as herbal or vitamin supplements.

Management of Missed Doses of Capmatinib

1. If you miss a dose of this medication, skip the missed dose and resume your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose.

2. If you vomit after taking a dose, do not take an extra dose to make up for it.

Storage of Capmatinib

1. Store the medication in a tightly sealed container at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and direct sunlight. Do not freeze.

2. Keep it out of the reach of children.

3. Do not keep expired or unused medication.

4. Consult your healthcare provider about the proper disposal of any unused medication.

5. This medication should be used within 6 weeks after opening the bottle. Discard any unused medication after 6 weeks.
